Winter - (Original poem is written in French; L'Hiver)

I fall to my knees

My arms around yours

That have also known cold soil

That I’ve helped lift up

Tenderly, slowly, carefully

The glow in my eyes has shut

Both lifted towards yours

That have also known dark nights

Which I’ve kissed so they see sunrays

Patiently, again and again, seeing ‘em all

My chest holds a fissured heart

My hands pleading for the other half back

Like your heart, too, has known agony

Which I have helped ease

While soothing, loving, adoring.

My steps have all gotten lost

When yours from mine strayed away

Which also had to find a healing path.

My hand taking yours helped along the way

To hold, to guide, to head on forth

But you left my knees on the ground

You lowered not your eyes to mine

You ignored my hands pleading for help

You left me lost within the woods

To die this Winter like its flowers
