My Sun - 2014
That day when your cool eyes
Shut away from mine for good
And you turned away from me,
I stood right where you left me
Hoping your straight back would turn
But eventually you hunched
And you strayed off a new path
And walked away from me for good
Lost completely out of sight
Never seeing what your eyes withheld
I’ve searched for them many years
To see what you hid away from me
To finally understand your hatred
And when at last I find you lost
I beg off the ground you lift your head
When your eyes raise up to mine
My heart and my own eyes are frightened
And as I stumble backwards in defense
Your eyes pull me right into their pit
Falling on a never before seen new land
My palms are ashed from consumed blaze
My fearful eyes search a way of escape
But this desolate soil infinitely stretches
And I am as lost as I found you to be
No life seen even in a buried worm
And suddenly, I know this place
Of which I have had nightmares of.
I found my own misery in your own land.
Your eyes like mine decades have aged
From what they have both had to bear
Even my tears cannot again grow life
So your barren soil rebirths anew
For the sun has long been shut
And the only way out to my own
Is to sadly turn my back on you
Email your thoughts
